The 2006 Volvo C70 T5: A Well-Mannered Swedish Car in Its Own Category
When the Volvo C70 model debuted in 1997, it had a few imperfections. The previous generation was completely revamped to give more depth. However, Volvo ceased its production in 2004.
With the launching of the new fast cars, the 2006 C70 gave an impression that it was an all-new car in a fresh, racier and vibrant category.
The C70 fast new cars are derived from the S40 sedan. However, it will be equipped with a wider track and lines that are more seductive. These 4-door fast cars retain quality engine, transmission and suspension. Chassis enhancements are evident to increase rigidity and improve safety standards.
Unlike separate fast car models (closed-top and open-top versions), Volvo decided on offering only one version of the C70 fast car. With a power-operated 3-piece retractable hard top, the roof folds into three pieces in about 30 seconds with just a push of a button.
The C70 new fast cars are available in only one unique trim – the T5. It is powered with a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-5-cylinder engine. These super fast cars delivers 218 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 236 ft-lbs of torque at 1500 rpm.
With a powerful engine, these fast cars can accelerate from zero to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and through 100 mph in 15 seconds. Top speed is at 150 mph.
The 2006 C70 T5 hot fast cars are lower, wider and slightly shorten than its successor. With these fast new cars, Volvo collaborated with the acclaimed Italian design studio of Pininfarina. The design originated with a sports coupe look and made adjustments to integrate the retractable hard top.
An impressive characteristic of this fast cool car is defined by the spacious backseats, which are rare in most convertible cars. The C70 T5 is a true 4-seater.
Standard features include 17-inch wheels and tires, six-speed manual gearbox and the impressive Volvo Dynamic Stability and Traction Control System.
Optional features of the C70 T5 super fast cars include the five-speed automatic gearbox with Geartronic manual-shift capability, 18-inch rims and rubber, heated front seats, a navigation system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, high-intensity-discharge headlamps and the premium Dynaudio surround-sound audio system.
Known for its innovative safety features, Volvo has integrated fresh technology, never before incorporated in any convertible. These new fast cars are equipped with standard door-mounted head-curtain airbags, which are mounted in the door.
